Join us in ringing in the new year with family and friends at The Family Room. $20 gets you all you can eat and drink and if you bring a dish we’ll give you $10 back! The fun will start at approximately 8pm, although it may vary for each person.
While you’re there, be sure to jump around in our inflatable bouncy room, grab a drink from our rollerskating monkey waiter and make the night permanent with some ink from our drunk tattoo intern. It’ll be a blast! Space is limited, so act quickly. There aren’t actual tickets, you’ll be on a list.
Buy tickets here.

Ed, sponsored by paper manufacture NewPage, offers all sorts of technical advice for the print realm including coatings, embossing, retouching, inks, prepress and more! Our friend Lizy over at Froeter Design Co. filled us in on the vast wonderment that is Ed. One thing is for sure, if you want to dress your print project to the nines, this would be the place to start.

Swiss artists, Gerda Steiner & Jörg Lenzlinger do some extremely beautiful installations all over Europe. Above is one called Fallen Garden that was in a Venice church. The observer lies down on the floor or ottoman, to examine a dream-like composition that, they claim, does the [dreaming] for you. Dreamy.

One great thing about living in an urban setting is the under-appreciated beauty of decapitated buildings with layers and layers of age and history. Re-surface, a boutique factory and design studio out in Brooklyn, has created a line of hand-crafted lighting inspired by old buildings and facades. Check out their other collections including the REMIX line inspired by classic musical equipment and the pillar candles wrapped in graffiti from the streets of New York.

If you are looking for something to do tonight, scoot over to The Viaduct Theatre for their first ever art exhibition: The Exquisite City. The installation city-scape was constructed almost entirely out of cardboard by 50 local and Chicago-related artists. Tim Tuten (co-owner of The Hideout) will be doing fictional walking tours after 8pm followed by an animated puppet show and performance by Black Bear Combo. For more information, click here.

After thoughtful consideration over here at the One Design Company, we have collectively agreed Barak Obama is our leading man of choice. One cannot deny the sexiness that is Obama and frankly, we are ready for change. Plus, who would you rather share a brewski with? That’s what I thought.

Duchamp, an American eatery with a global twist now resides in the Bucktown/Wicker park area offering up delicious eats and sweets. Not to forget the long list of classy spirits from obscure microbrews to wine from Hungry. Now, all that talk is making me hungry.
We’ve had the pleasure to design their website and also have obtained Lumen, another local lovely restaurant spot, as a client! It’s a happy day for the One design team!
